The day begins with a delicioius breakfast of leftover wedding cake
IMG_1848
Look how good it is.
IMG_1849
The feast is over when there is nothing left but frosting

We visit the main drag and sign up for a bus tour
IMG_1851
We hang out with a fake Javelina: Ree, Megan, Adam (giving noogies), Rita and Grandma Slator
IMG_1852
The main drag of Sedona has a scenic backdrop
IMG_1853
There are gags on the street, like this funny mannequin ...
IMG_1855
... and where Rita finds this "we have snake oil" sign ...
IMG_1856
... and I begin my "Cigar Store Indian" photo essay retrospective ...
IMG_1857
... here's another one ...
IMG_1858
... and here is another.
IMG_1860
Then we are on the tour bus, and the driver points out a construction disaster where these buildings had to be torn apart and re-done to meet city building code specifications.
IMG_1865
This is a three-shot sequence showing the fantastic zoom capabilites of my Canon digital camera. This is the "regular" shot ...
IMG_1866
... this is the shot with "mechanical zoom" and ...
IMG_1867
... this is the same shot with "digital zoom" - pretty good, eh?
IMG_1874
The bus tour takes us up to this phony "chapel" that is related to Frank Lloyd Wright. They do not have regular religious services up there, but they surely have an active gift shop.
IMG_1868
From up there we have the Hungarian mansion pointed out to us. This is being built by a doctor who pioneered laser eye surgery. The bus driver is very critical of this $10 Million project. It does not fit with the landscape. But he shills HARD for the chapel and its gift shop.

Later that day we go to the "Party Store" that we have been driving past all week. This has magic sets and new age kites. The college-aged kids have been lobbying to stop there all week.
IMG_1883
Outside there is a bright yellow car with a puppy sleeping on the hood. I am completely deceived by this, and take a picture. It is only after we get inside that I realize the puppy is a hoax.

Later that day, the college-aged kids go off into the hills for a hike. This is Megan, stealthy.
IMG_1884
Meanwhile, Rita and I go off-roading in the rented car, up beyond the chapel, and into the dirt roads towards Flagstaff.
IMG_1887
We are out amongst the scrub ...
IMG_1889
... and the prickly pear cactus
IMG_1902
One of the pre-occupations in Sedona is naming rock outcrops. We find this one, looking like an Indian head
IMG_1903
You can see it up close, with my camera's zoom capabilties
IMG_1905
Farther down the road we find some "natural bridges" which are geologic structures near and dear to us
IMG_1906
These are formations created by erosion ...
IMG_1907
... centuries of wind action, in this case
IMG_1911
Then it started to get dark, and I shot this across Rita's lap through the open Dodge Caravan window, as the sun went down.
IMG_1912
When we returned to the motel, the college-aged students were preparing to go for a swim.
IMG_1913
The boys (Ree and Adam) launch Megan airward, while Rita observes to ensure that proper safety is being exercised.
Extra Story

Rita brought a big bunch of board games, and we played these quite a bit. You can see evidence of this in the photos taken before the wedding.

Extra Story

Adam brought his XBox, and we whiled away many hours playing with it. There are no photos of this. You just need to take my word for it.
