Fun Stuff
| Trivia: |
- We got a bale of straw from the Rawlings farm to decorate the village huts
- The Cuban's hats came from Harris Warehouse, the Cheetah mask came from Teeners (downtown Mpls.) the costume supply place at 8th and Hennepin.
- We shot the rope swings and the alligator fight in the summer, the rest of the movie was shot under extremely cool conditions in October.
- The 'arrow up the gun barrel' special effect was accomplished by splitting an arrow up the middle with a razor blade, then burrowing a groove up the middle of the arrow with a chisel, then glueing the arrow back together with fishline up the middle. This was an all-night project by the prop master.
- The alligator scene was just a few of us (Bruce, Brian, Dave, Dennis, Quint),on a sunny summer evening at Ryan Lake, near 49th and Washburn Ave. N.
- The majority of the movie was shot in Camden Park on the south side of the Camden bridge in the Fall of 1976.
- Final editing and post-production on "Tarzan Jr. and the Cuban Mercenaries" was never finished (until the fall of 2009).
|
| Goofs: |
- The police investigated the production and shut us down briefly after citizens reported Cubans down by the Mississippi River with machine guns. The guns were all plastic, of course. The uniforms were pretty realistic though.
- The alligator was made out of chicken wire and plastic bags on a wood frame. Quint got all scratched up
on the chicken wire during the fight scene.
- It was cold and rainy when we shot down by the river, and Tarzan and Jane were especially brave about
facing the weather wearing skimpy costumes.

| Quotes: |
- Tarzan: "No! Jane and Boy stay with Tarzan. Mercenaries not bother us."
- British Lt: "Now, where's my hat got to?
- Boy: Cheetah's got it!"
- Cuban #4: "Si! Every village we've been to for the last week, there's nothing behind but junk!"
- Jane: "Boy, will you get us some fruit, we're getting low."
- Boy: "Mmm. Alright, Jane"
- Africa ... home of Tarzan of the Apes. Now in his golden years Tarzan has passed
the torch to Boy who restores the tranquility of the jungle when it is shattered by interlopers.

FAQ
Q. Isn't Tarzan a trademarked character?
A. There are two parts to the answer:
1. The trademark TARZAN ® is owned by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. and Used by Permission
2. Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. has not participated in the making of this film and accepts no responibility or liability for its content.
Q. Why is the movie in black and white?
A. The 'look' of the movie was supposed to imitate the half-hour adventures we watched as kids, and in those days color film was much more expensive than B&W.
Q. Since this is a new movie, why does it say MCMLXXVI (1976) in the credits?
A. Film was shot in the 1970s but the movie was never 'released' until after final editing and post-production was completed in the fall of 2009.

The Elevator Pitch
Boy rescues Tarzan and Jane when Cuban mercenaries disturb the tranquility of the jungle.
Synopsis
Cuban mercenaries disturb the tranquility of the jungle by kidnapping Tarzan and Jane for ransom. Their son, Boy (Tarzan Jr.), the new king of the jungle, is confronted with danger as he attempts a perilous rescue.
Will Boy succeed? Will Tarzan and Jane be saved?
Plot Summary
A British army squadron patrols the African jungle on a rendezvous with Tarzan and Jane. They are visited by Boy (Tarzan Jr. the new king of the jungle), and the faithful Cheetah. The British commander urges Tarzan to seek safety in the Fort while Cuban Mercenaries raid the jungle looking for spoils. Tarzan refuses and the British leave, promising to return soon.
Jane sends Boy to gather food, and while he is swimming in the river Boy is attacked by a killer crocodile.
They fight.
In victory, Boy gives the famous 'Tarzan Yell'.
Meanwhile, the Cuban Mercenaries capture Tarzan and Jane, leaving a ransom note attached to a tree. Cheetah is with them, but he gets away.
Cheetah finds Boy and communicates the situation. Boy swings through the jungle and finds the Cuban camp.
Boy uses the famous 'Tarzan Yell' to demoralize his enemies. Then ...
He attacks.
In the ensuing battle, Boy fights the Cubans with a rope lasso, with a bow and arrow, with a machete, and with his bare hands. Finally, with Cheetah's help, the Cubans are defeated.
Just as the battle ends, the British squadron arrives to take care of things.
The tranquility of the jungle is restored.
